Over 40 wedding guests arrested for violating quarantine

(UTV | COLOMBO) – Mallakam Magistrate has ordered the arrest of 47 persons who were present at a wedding held in violation of quarantine rules in Sandilipay, Jaffna.

The Magistrate has also ordered the Police to subject them to PCR tests for COVID 19. Although the health officials had not granted permission for the wedding, the ceremony had been held with the participation of 68 people at a wedding hall in Jaffna.

The case was filed against 47 of the 68 participants and the Magistrate ordered that the rest be arrested and produced before the Court at the request of Sandilipay Health Officers.

Accordingly, with the assistance of the Point Pedro Police, health officials have begun inspecting the CCTV cameras installed in the hall where the wedding was held to arrest the other 21 participants.
