Justice Minister to act on removal of Mohan Peiris

(UTV | COLOMBO) – Justice Minister is to take appropriate measures after consulting Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa on the removal of Chief Justice of the Supreme Court Mohan Peiris.

Peiris was removed from his position in January 2015 by then President Maithripala Sirisena.

Minister Ali Sabry said that the President cannot remove the Chief Justice without the approval of Parliament, thereby the move was unconstitutional.
