Hospital system ready to face OMICRON variant

(UTV | COLOMBO) – The Minister of Health Keheliya Rambukwella emphasizes that the hospital system in the country is ready to face the spread of the OMICRON variant.

The Minister pointed out that although there were some shortages during the last several waves of COVID-19 such as the presence of only a single lab in the entire country and oxygen shortages, those issues will be resolved this time.

He stated that if the number of infected people may increase in the near future, steps will be taken to resume home-based treatment.

“We have taken all the steps possible to curb the spread of the virus while ensuring that the economy is protected,” he added.
