COVID-19 cases are on the rise in Colombo

(UTV | COLOMBO) – New Covid cases have been detected in a number of areas in the Colombo District, including in Narahenpita, Wellawatta and Mount Lavinia.

The latest detection was made during a 24-hour period ending at 6am today (12).

During this period, officials said that 45 people were detected with the virus in Narahenpita, 65 in Wellawatta and 43 in Mount Lavinia.

Other areas new cases were detected included Kollupitiya (18), Avissawella (74), Homagama (19), Kosgama (12) and Wellampitiya (65).

A total of 505 people were detected with the virus in the Colombo District during this period.

Sri Lanka had on Friday recorded another 62 coronavirus related deaths.

The death toll from the virus in Sri Lanka rose to 2,073, the Ministry of Health said.
