Another 608,000 Pfizer doses arrive at the BIA

(UTV | COLOMBO) – Another 608,000 doses of Pfizer vaccine purchased by Sri Lanka have arrived in the island.

The consignment, weighing 1,817kg arrived onboard a flight that landed at 2.15am at the Katunayake International Airport.

The BIA Duty Manager said the stock of vaccine doses arrived from Amsterdam via Doha, Qatar.

Meanwhile, General Manager of the State Pharmaceuticals Corporation Dinusha Dassanayake said Sri Lanka has procured five million doses of the Pfizer vaccine and they have received one million jabs already.

Sri Lanka is expected to receive the remaining batch before the end of November.

According to reports Sri Lanka has additionally procured 14 million Pfizer vaccine doses that are expected to arrive in the country in December.
