Vehicle transporting timber run over Army Personnel at checkpoint

(UTV | VAVUNIYA) – Two Army Personnel were injured when a vehicle which defied order to stop rammed on them at a checkpoint at Omanthai yesterday (17).

Army Personnel signalled to stop a vehicle which was transporting timber at the checkpoint. But the vehicle defied the order and went on knocking down the 2 Soldiers at the checkpoint, slamming into a nearby culvert.

The perpetrators fled the scene, the Police stated.

The cab was taken into the custody of the Omanthai Police and the 2 injured Soldiers have been admitted to the Vavuniya Hospital.
