Taxi drivers allowed to transport employees

(UTV | COLOMBO) – Taxi drivers were allowed to operate to transport employees, even across districts, to their places of work and/or home, police said today.

Police Spokesman Jaliya Senaratna said the police would look into confirming whether a passenger has been picked up from their home or workplace.

“People are not allowed to get into taxies on the roads to reach other destinations except the places of work and home. We can confirm from the drivers the place where a passenger was picked up. Therefore, taxies can be used to reach the offices, and home from the offices at the end of the day,” he said.
