(UTV | COLOMBO) – Sri Lanka Railways has taken steps to issue train tickets online from today with the aim of providing a better service to passengers.
General Manager of the Sri Lanka Railways Dhammika Jayasundara said passengers will be able to book a ticket online or reserve a seat through the mobile phone application, via the online system.
Jayasundara said the mobile application will be available for download in the near future.
He noted the programme will be carried out as an initial step today adding the facility will be available in future based on the needs of the passengers.
He said they will gather data at the initial stage to streamline the service.
Jayasundara said android and iOS versions of the mobile applications will be made available soon adding passengers will be able to make the payment using credit cards as well.
