Rice distributed to Kalutara & Gampaha

(UTV | COLOMBO) -The Ministry of Internal Trade, Food Security and Consumer Welfare says the program to supply rice to the Kalutara and Gampaha districts both today and tomorrow continues to be carried out.

Ministry Secretary Bhadrani Jayawardena said the program is underway for all other districts as well.

She noted the President had earlier issued directives to officials, to convert state owned paddy into rice.

Meanwhile officers of the Consumer Affairs Authority had also conducted an inspection of large, medium and small scale Rice mills yesterday, to probe the prevailing rice shortage.
