Over 9000 police officers to conduct traffic operations

(UTV | COLOMBO) – Police Media Spokesman, Deputy Inspector General of Police Ajith Rohana said that 400 individuals have been arrested for drunk driving from 20 to 25 December.

He said that on 24 December, five persons were killed in road accidents, while over 30 were injured, and added that there was an increase in road accidents.

Rohana said that over 9,000 Police Officers were deployed to conduct traffic operations to apprehend drunk drivers and those not adhering to rules. He stressed on the importance of precautionary measures that need to be taken to prevent accidents on roads.
