Over 35,000 Lankans abroad waiting to return – SLFEB

(UTV | COLOMBO) – About 45,000 Sri Lankans employed abroad for years had returned to Sri Lanka this year because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Government stated.

Another 35,000 are waiting to come back, the Additional General Manager of the Sri Lanka Foreign Employment Bureau (SLFEB) stressed.

However, about 11,800 Sri Lankans have departed for foreign jobs this year too, he said, adding that if the quarantine regulations are to be relaxed by the Government in the near future, bringing in Sri Lankans from abroad will be easier.
