Over 250 arrested for violating quarantine regulations

(UTV | COLOMBO) – In the last 24 hours, 253 persons have been arrested for violating quarantine regulations.

Police Media Spokesperson Senior DIG Ajith Rohana stated that 54,612 persons have been arrested so far for violating quarantine regulations issued to curb the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic.

He added that 2,411 persons were inspected at the entry and exit points to Western Province.

Another 479 persons who travelled in 361 vehicles while violating inter-provincial travel restrictions have also been diverted as well.

The police further added that further operations are being carried out.
