Number of Coronavirus patients rises

(UTV | COLOMBO) – The number of patients detected with the coronavirus in Sri Lanka rose to 132 today.

The Director General of Health Services Dr. Anil Jasinghe said 10 new cases of Covid-19 were reported as of 04.15 this evening.

Meanwhile, the Epidemiology Unit of the Ministry of Health said 111 patients, among the confirmed cases, have been reported as active cases.

A total of 173 patients are receiving treatment at hospitals across the country on suspicion of having contracted the virus.

Two deaths have been reported so far due to the virus, with the victims being identified as residents of Marawila and Negombo.

Dr. Jasinghe said three more patients who had contracted the coronavirus in Sri Lanka were discharged from the National Institute of Infectious Diseases (IDH) in Angoda and the Colombo East Base Hospital in Mulleriyawa today.

A total of 17 patients, 16 Sri Lankans and a Chinese woman, have so far recovered and have been discharged from various hospitals.
