No Tsunami warning from Indian Ocean earthquake

(UTV | COLOMBO) – The Department of Meteorology reaffirmed that an earthquake which occurred today (12) to the South-East of Sri Lanka, in the Northern Indian Ocean and measured 5.4 on the Richter Scale, has not raised any Tsunami warnings.

Issuing a statement, the Met. Department stated that the daily lives of fishing communities residing in coastal areas remain safe.

The earthquake was reported to have occurred at a depth of 10 kilometres in deep seas, at around 2.35 early this morning.
