No new COVID-19 cases during past 24 hours

UTV | COLOMBO – The total number of COVID-19 cases recorded in the island remains at 2,810, as no new cases were identified yesterday.

Accordingly, 482 persons are currently undergoing medical treatment at hospitals across the country for the virus.

Meanwhile a total of 599 COVID-19 patients have been identified from the Kandakadu Treatment and Rehabilitation Centre and individuals linked to the cluster, while 917 overseas returnees also tested positive for coronavirus thus far.

According to the Epidemiology Unit of the Ministry of Health 80 patients remain under medical observation on suspicion of having contracted COVID-19, while a total of 21 persons who underwent treatment, recovered and were discharged from medical care in the past 24 hour time frame, raising the tally of virus recoveries in the island to 2,317.
