Nine-year-old child killed, 23 others hospitalised in bus-train collision in Talaimannar

(UTV | MANNAR) – A 9-year-old child was killed and 23 others hospitalised after a passenger bus collided with a train at a railway crossing in Talaimannar this afternoon (16).

At least 30 passengers were on-board the bus at the time of the accident and that 20 among them were schoolchildren.

The injured were admitted to the Mannar and Thaleimannar Hospitals. Two of them are in critical condition.

The driver and the conductor of the bus were taken into Police custody.
