Lankapura PS Chairman, family votes despite under quarantine

(UTV | COLOMBO) – The Chairman of the Lankapura Pradeshiya Sabha (PS) in Polonnaruwa District, Susanthapriya Bandara Wijekoon and his family were sent to the Quarantine Centre in Punani yesterday (05) for violating self-isolation regulations.

This was after he and his wife had voted at the 2020 Parliamentary Election.

Police had received a tip-off about Wijekoon and his wife casting their votes and had visited their residence. The couple had confessed to breaching self-isolation regulations and were sent to the Quarantine Centre immediately.

The Staffers of the Lankapura Pradeshiya Sabha and Divisional Secretariat had been asked to self-isolate recently after a Divisional Secretariat Official had tested positive for the COVID-19.
