(UTV | COLOMBO) – It is reported that the Ministry of Transport and the bus associations have reached an agreement to increase the minimum bus fare by Rs 2.
Accordingly, the minimum bus fare which is Rs 14 will be increased to Rs 16.
However, the bus unions had proposed to increase the minimum fare by Rs. 3 from Rs. 14 to Rs. 17 in a proposal submitted to the National Transport Commission last Friday.
Meanwhile, the bus unions had on Friday submitted a proposal to increase other fares by nearly 15%.
However, it has been agreed that the percentage should be between 7.5 and 10 percent.
The Ministry of Transport has planned to announce the revised bus fare wednesday (29).
