IMF advice sought over a Macro-Fiscal Unit-Cabraal

(UTV | COLOMBO) – The Governor of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka Ajith Nivard Cabraal says Minister of Finance Basil Rajapaksa’s comment over Sri Lanka seeking technical advice from the International Monetary Fund on the economic situation is about a routine Technical Assistance Programme on Macro-Fiscal capacity building for the Finance Ministry’s new Macro-Fiscal Unit.

Taking to Twitter Governor Cabraal said the IMF advice is over nothing else.

Minister Rajapaksa yesterday said Sri Lanka made a written request to the IMF seeking advice on the current economic situation and claimed a group of IMF representatives will visit Sri Lanka in the near future.

The Minister said they sought expert technical knowledge from the IMF with the organisation expected to educate Sri Lanka on matters.
