This program is being implemented with the aim of hospitalizing only critically ill patients in a background where the capacity of many government and private hospitals in the country has exceeded with the spread of the Delta variant.
The home care program for the infected was first piloted in the Kalutara District and later extended to other districts in the Western Province.
The Ministry of Health stated that the program will be used to manage the hospital system at this time when more patients are being reported considering its success.
