‘Govt formulated system to restore rice storages’

UTV | COLOMBO – President Gotabaya Rajapaksa says the present administration formulated a stringent system to restore rice storages that are being destroyed and to purchase paddy, after coming into power.

The Head of State during a meeting with several farmers in Polonnaruwa said the government has made plans to act in a manner which will not affect paddy farmers in future.

The President’s Media Division said the farmers also requested the President to prevent middlemen from creating a rice shortage.

Residents of the area had also requested President Rajapaksa to bring those responsible for the Central Bank bond scam to book.

The PMD said President Gotabaya Rajapaksa also addressed a rally organized by former President Maithripala Sirisena in Polonnaruwa today.
