‘Govt failed to provide concessions to people’

(UTV | COLOMBO) – The Samagi Jana Balawegaya says the government has failed to provide concessions to the public amidst the prevailing challenges brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Speaking at a media briefing in Colombo today, former Parliamentarian Harshana Rajakaruna said the public was deceived during the last Presidential Election, by pledges offering the people many concessions.

He charged, the incumbent government claimed the cost of living had increased when comparing 2015 and 2019, and stressed that the cost of essential goods when compared among both years was notably higher in 2015.

Rajakaruna therefore condemned the present administration’s failure to grant the needy public any concessions amidst difficult challenges.
