DNA test confirms identity of ‘Angoda Lokka’

(UTV | COLOMBO) – A DNA test has established the identity of underworld gang member Angoda Lokka who died in Coimbatore, India.

Chandana Lasantha Perera alias ‘Angoda Lokka’ died of cardiac arrest while in Balaji Nagar on the 3rd of July 2020 and the post-mortem was conducted at the Coimbatore Medical College and Hospital.

Indian media said his remains were cremated in Madurai.

It was brought to light that Angoda Lokka had concealed his identity following which Police arrested three persons for forging documents and concealing his identity.

The case was transferred to the CB-CID of India. Owing to doubts over Lokka’s identity, with the assistance of the Sri Lanka government, samples were collected from Angoda Lokka’s mother and directed to a lab in Chennai.

Yesterday, the CB-CID obtained a five-day custody of Angoda Lokka’s close associates.

Indian Police are seeking to question his allies to determine if Angoda Lokka engaged in criminal activities during his stay in Coimbatore.
