CPC subsidiary for LP gas production

(UTV | COLOMBO) – Cabinet approval has been granted to set up a company affiliated to the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation for the production of gas.

Accordingly, a proposal by Energy Minister Udaya Gammanpila has been approved by the Cabinet to set up a separate subsidiary company to produce LP gas.

Cabinet Spokesperson Minister Ramesh Pathirana pointed out that the CPC produces about 70 to 90 metric tons of LPG a day, which is about 5% of the country’s demand, and also said that the CPC already sells LP Gas to existing distributors.

Accordingly, a feasibility study is currently being conducted to implement an LP gas production plant with a capacity of 10,000 barrels per day.
