Control price to be imposed for sugar

(UTV | COLOMBO) – The Ministry of Trade, Commerce and Consumer Protection states that plans are underway to impose a control price on sugar as well.

Minister Nalin Fernando stated that the price of sugar in the local market has risen sharply, and in comparison to international market prices, the prices are unacceptable.

Meanwhile, a maximum retail price of 4 types of rice was imposed yesterday (10).

Accordingly, the maximum retail price of a kilogram of white and red raw rice is Rs. 210/-, and the maximum retail price of a kilogram of Nadu rice is Rs. 220/- while the maximum retail price of a kilogram of Samba rice is Rs. 230/-.

Moreover, the maximum retail price of a kilogram of Kirisamba is Rs. 260/-.
