CAA Gazettes MRP for turmeric powder

(UTV | COVID-19) – Issuing a Gazette Notification, the Consumer Affairs Authority (CAA) declared that a kilogramme of turmeric powder can be sold at the Maximum Retail Price (MRP) of only Rs. 750, with effect from today (22).

According to the Gazette Notification, the CAA has declared that “No importer, producer, distributor, or trader shall sell, expose or offer for sale, display for sale the item listed below, above the Maximum Retail Price of Rs. 750/- per 1 kilogramme.”

The CAA was compelled to order the fixed price for the sale of turmeric powder by way of a gazette notification after it was found that many traders were hoarding stocks of the powder and were selling it for higher prices.
