Buwelikada Tragedy: Building not conforming to standards

(UTV | KANDY) – An investigation carried out by the National Building Research Organisation (NBRO) has confirmed that certain constructions in the collapsed 5-storied building at Buwelikada, Kandy are substandard.

The 5-storied building caved in and collapsed on to a house in Buwelikada in Kandy, early morning on 20 September killing a young couple and their infant daughter.

The NBRO had carried out inspections on samples taken from the collapsed building such as of wire, concrete and other material.
