Split emerged in SLFP as UNP prepares to form UNP-led UNF Government

(UTV|COLOMBO) – A split has emerged in the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) when several SLFP Ministers have agreed to join the United National Party (UNP)-led United National Front (UNF) to form a UNF Government following the defeat suffered by the SLFP at the Local Government (LG) Elections.

It is reported that 7 SLFP Ministers have so far agreed to join the UNF under Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe, while several others have refused to do so.

Meanwhile several key SLFP Ministers have decided to sit independently in Parliament and not join a UNF Cabinet, sources said.
