44,767 appeals filed over the Rs.5,000 allowance

(UTV | COLOMBO) – 44,767 appeals have been lodged pertaining to the Rs.5,000 allowance granted by the government to those who lost livelihoods due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The Presidential Task Force on Economic Revival and Poverty Eradication said District Secretaries have been advised to look into the appeals.

The highest number of appeals, more than 5,000, have been received from the Kalutara District, while 4,000 appeals have been lodged from the Colombo District.

The Task Force stated that 2,033 appeals were lodged over the Rs.5,000 in the Kegalle District while 176 appeals were filed from the Kandy District.
