(UTV | COLOMBO) -A total of 7,326 families are affected by the inclement weather experienced in several parts of the country in the past few days.
The Disaster Management said in its latest update said 30,308 individuals have been affected by adverse weather in 11 districts.
Three deaths and injuries to two individuals are also linked to inclement weather.
Meanwhile, the DMC said seven houses have been destroyed and 287 residences have been damaged due to heavy rains, gusty winds, and landslides.
Around 275 families affected by bad weather have also been relocated to temporary shelters at present.
Meanwhile, the Department of Meteorology predicts showers or thundershowers at times in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, North-Western and Northern provinces and in the Galle and Matara districts today.
The Met Department said heavy showers of about 100mm can be expected at some places in the Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces and in the Galle, Matara, Puttalam, Mannar, Kilinochchi and Jaffna districts.
It added showers or thundershowers will occur elsewhere over the island during the afternoon or night.
Meanwhile, the Met Department said strong winds about 40-45kmph can be expected at times over the western slopes of the Central hills and in the Southern province.
The general public has also been requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
