(UTV|COLOMBO) – 18 persons have been arrested in Massala, Beruwala for attending a party that was organized via Facebook while disregarding orders issued under the Quarantine and Prevention of Diseases Ordinance against large gatherings due to the threat of COVID-19.
An order has been issued by the government banning large gatherings due to contain the threat of COVID-19. Police said the group, arrested at a hotel in Beruwala, was also found to be in possession of narcotics.
The group, arrested around midnight, will be produced before the Kalutara Magistrate’s Court today.
