SJB-led govt will reduce fuel prices -Patali

(UTV | COLOMBO) – Former Parliamentarian Patali Champika Ranawaka says a programme to reduce fuel prices will be introduced by the Samagi Jana Balawegaya after claiming a win at the General Election.

Speaking at a protest in Colombo yesterday, Ranawaka said a Samagi Jana Balawegaya led government will provide concessions to all citizens.

He said the COVID-19 pandemic has not regressed, adding however the people’s economic situation across the country has completely collapsed.

He added there are several complaints of hunger and difficulties and people being unable to help their children.

The former MP noted in such a situation the government has imposed taxes on fuel, water and electricity and claimed the people are suffering.

He said when the SJB claims governing power on the 6th of August it will grant concessions for fuel, water and electricity, and grant salary increments to state employees and pensioners once again, without any deductions.

Ranawaka stressed Rs.20,000 will be provided for families, for all those who lost jobs due to the pandemic, in order to uplift their economic situation as promised.
