More on Traffic Lane regulation

(UTV | COLOMBO)  – Motorists will be educated on the Bus Priority Lane laws and the Traffic Lane regulations in the Colombo District from today.

Police said the regulations will be strictly enforced from the 22nd of June.

Accordingly, Traffic Lane regulations will be in effect from 6am to 9am for vehicles entering Colombo and from 4pm to 7pm for vehicles leaving the city.

Police said, only selected vehicles will be permitted to use the bus priority lane running along the Olcott Mawatha, the Regal Roundabout, Kumaran Ratnam Road, Piththala junction, Public Library Roundabout until Colpetty.

The bus priority lane along the Galle road from Maliban Junction in Ratmalana to the Moratuwa Cross Junction will also be allowed for the selected group of vehicles leaving Colombo from 5pm to 8pm.

The designated vehicles include private and state-owned buses, staff transport vehicles with more than 20 seats, and school service buses and vans.

500 additional Police officers will be deployed to monitor and enforce the regulation.
