Lionsgate sets new “Wick,” “Spiral,” “Hitman” dates

(UTV | Colombo) – Lionsgate has now refreshed its theatrical release slate with a whole bunch of new release dates for their movies.

First up, “John Wick: Chapter 4” has pushed back a full year to May 27th 2022. This was the most expected as the film is still in early scripting and both Reeves and the ‘Wick’ directors have commitments to Lana Wachowski’s fourth “The Matrix” film which was shooting before the shutdown.

The Chris Rock-starring “Saw” revival film “Spiral” has now taken Wick’s old May 21st 2021 date – delayed a full year from its original May 2020 release. The Janelle Monae-led horror film “Antebellum,” originally set for April, will now hit August 21st.

“The Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard,” the sequel to the Ryan Reynolds and Sam Jackson action comedy, has been pushed back a year and will now open August 20th 2021. Similar story with the Kristen Wiig comedy “Barb and Star Go to the Vista Del Mar” which will now open July 16th 2021.

Other new dates include “Fatale” on October 30th 2020, “Voyagers” on November 25th 2020, “The Devil’s Light” on January 8th 2021, “The Asset” on April 23rd 2021, and “American Underdog” on December 10th 2021.

Two big titles – the Nicolas Cage-led meta film “The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent” and the troubled “Chaos Walking” adaptation – are retaining their March 19th 2021 and January 22nd 2021 release dates.
