Twelve-hour maximum transit time at BIA

Airlines are informed that the maximum permitted transit time at Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) for any passenger transiting via BIA should strictly be not more than 12 hours, Civil Aviation Authority of Sri Lanka (CAASL) said.

Upul Dharmadasa, Chairman of CAASL said in a statement that the concerned passenger must strictly have a confirmed onward connection out of BIA to an onward destination.

Meanwhile the government also invited all airlines to service sri Lanka airports BIA, Mattala Rajapaksa Hambantota Airport(MRIA) , Jaffna International Airport (JIA), Colombo International Airport- Ratmalana upon lifting of the restrictions. The statement also stressed that all other previous instructions issued by the CAASL which are not amended will continue to be applicable.
