National tree planting week declared

(UTV|COLOMBO) – A national tree planting week has been declared by the government.

Accordingly, the inauguration ceremony will be held tomorrow under the patronage of President Gotabaya Rajapaksa at the Mahamewna Uyana in Anuradhapura.

The programme has been named as “Hadena ratata wadena gasak”.

The national tree planting programme will be initiated by the government with the aim of increasing Sri Lanka’s forest density by 30% based on President Gotabaya Rajapaksa’s Election manifesto.
