Mangala assures prompt solution for war hero pensions

(UTV|COLOMBO) – Minister of Finance Mangala Samaraweera yesterday (19) agreed in Parliament that the demands of the differently-abled war heroes who staged a ‘Sathyagraha’ opposite the Fort Railway Station were reasonable and stated that the Government was in the process of solving the issue.

The Minister explained that the proposals had been sent to the Ministry of Defence for their recommendations regarding the grant of a 100 per cent pension and 75 per cent pension to the fully and partially differently-abled war heroes respectively at their retirement and the Ministry has responded to it.

Samaraweera added that hence the issue would be solved without delay.
