“The Matrix” gets 20th anniversary re-release

(UTV|COLOMBO) – Warner Bros. Pictures has announced that The Wachowski siblings’ legendary sci-fi action smash “The Matrix” is coming back to cinemas for one-week only engagement beginning on August 30th.

Celebrating the film’s 20th anniversary, the movie will run in more than 135 Dolby Cinema AMC locations through to September 5th, the version in the patented Dolby Cinema format complete with Dolby Vision HDR picture and Dolby Atmos sound.

Senior vice president of Dolby Laboratories’ Cinema Business Group, Doug Darrow, said in a statement: “Bringing The Matrix to life in Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos pays homage to the masterpiece that the Wachowskis created 20 years ago. Movie lovers will be able to see and experience unforgettable sequences like bullets flying in slow motion with the utmost detail – transforming one of the most iconic sci-fi films of this generation.”

The first “The Matrix” was released March 31st 1999 and went on to gross $463 million worldwide from a $63 million budget.
