Air Force Commander calls on PM

(UTV|COLOMBO) – Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe has issued directives to remove certain obsolete Helicopters currently in use by the Sri Lanka Air Force and replace them with attack and training aircraft instead.

The Prime Minister made issued these directives during a meeting with the new Commander of the Air-Force Air Marshall Sumangala Dias yesterday.

The meeting had also focused on the need to develop the Air-Force according to a new plan.

Meanwhile Dr. Hiroto Izumi, Special Advisor to the Prime Minister of Japan, Shinzo Abe is due to visit Sri Lanka for a two day official visit and meet Prime Minister Wickremesinghe on the 20th of June.

Premier Wickremesinghe is expected to formally request Japan to lift its travel ban to Sri Lanka during the meeting.
