Hemasiri & Pujith were summoned to the PSC

(UTV|COLOMBO) – Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) Parliamentarian Nalinda Jayatissa says Former Secretary of Defence Hemasiri Fernando and Inspector General of Police Pujith Jayasundara, who is on compulsory leave, have been summoned before the Parliament Select Committee probing the Easter Sunday attacks.

The Select Committee is due to convene once again on the 4th of June.

Member of the Select Committee MP Jayatissa said several high ranking officers of the security forces have been summoned before the Committee during the next session.

The Special Parliament Select Committee was appointed on the 22nd of May to probe the Easter Sunday attacks.

Deputy Speaker of House Ananda Kumarasiri was appointed the Chairman of the committee which comprises of 8 members.

Minister Rajitha Senaratne and MP Nalinda Jayatissa were recently appointed to replace United National Party MP Kavinda Jayawardena who stepped down from the committee.

Alongside Ministers Rauff Hakeem and Ravi Karunanayake, Parliamentarians Field Marshall Sarath Fonseka, Professor Ashu Marasinghe, Dr. Jayampathi Wickramaratne and Tamil National Alliance MP MA Sumanthiran were also appointed as committee members.

United Peoples Freedom Alliance and Joint Opposition group representatives refused to join the committee.
