Thundershowers to lash Sri Lanka; Public urged to be vigilant

(UTV|COLOMBO) – The Department of Meteorology on Saturday (20) requested the public to take adequate precautions to minimise damages caused by lightning activity as the possibility for afternoon thundershowers is still high over the island.

Accordingly, the showers or thundershowers will occur in most parts of the island after 2.00 PM, while fairly heavy falls about 75 millimetres can be expected at some places in Sabaragamuwa, Central, Southern, Uva, Western and North-Western Provinces, and Vavuniya and Mannar Districts.

Light showers may also occur in the Western and Southern coastal areas in the morning, the Met. Department further added.
