(UDHAYAM, COLOMBO) – The body of a female victim of the Payagala boat accident has washed ashore in Katukurunda.
Udhayam News Correspondent said the body was of a 12 year old girl.
Accordingly the death toll of the Payagala boat capsizing has risen to 16.
Meanwhile, two bodies were washed ashore in Beruwela and Balapitiya last morning, whilst another body of a female was discovered in Beruwala last afternoon.
The boat was carrying a group of pilgrims engaged in a religious practice when it capsized around 9.30am on Sunday.
The numbers of passengers on board remains unclear but unofficial police reports suggest around 40 persons were onboard.
