Global Consultation summit on Migrant Health today

(UDHAYAM, COLOMBO) – The second Global Consultation summit on Migrant Health will get underway in Colombo today (21st Tuesday).

The summit will be held under the auspices of President Maithripala Sirisena and the Director-General of the World Health Organization Margaret Chan.

The summit will deliberate issues concerning the health of migrants and refugees, which the WHO has deemed as insufficiently addressed in multi-sector platforms.

The event will also facilitate the sharing of current perspectives and good practices, and emphasize the shared responsibility of promoting the health of migrants and refugees.

The Ministry of Health said an evident based Migration Health Policy will also be published following the conclusion of the summit in Colombo.

Representatives from over 50 countries are expected participate in the two day summit.
