(UDHAYAM, COLOMBO) – The payment of compensation to victims affected by natural disasters in the year 2016 is scheduled to commence today (03rd Friday).
Minister of Power and Renewable Energy Ranjith Siyambalapitiya said 1,000 victims will be compensated today.
The Minister said measures have been taken to provide compensation to the rest of the victims throughout the month of February through the relevant Provincial Secretariat.
Around 300 houses were damaged due to heavy rainfall and landslides during the year 2016.
Accordingly, Minister Ranjith Siyambalapitiya said the payment of compensation to victims affected by natural disasters will commence today.
