CEB Trade Unions to protest

(UDHAYAM, COLOMBO) – All Trade Unions attached to the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) are scheduled to launch a protest in Colombo today (03rd Friday) over salary anomalies and several other demands.

Convener of the Lanka Electricity Board Employees’ Union Ranjan Jayalal said all employees attached to the Ceylon Electricity Board’s power plants and work stations have been called to engage in the protest.

Ranjan Jayalal said a strike will be launched if the demands of the employees are not met by this afternoon.

Jayalal said the trade union has decided to call all employees of the Ceylon Electricity Board to Colombo this afternoon to protest.

He noted this will be carried out without inconveniencing the public as electricity supply is an essential service.

The Convener however said if no one is willing to heed demands; a decision to launch a trade union action will be taken opposite the Ceylon Electricity Board this afternoon.

He reiterated the leaders of the country must take responsibility for this course of action.
