MP Wimal Weerawansa to be produced in court today

(UDHAYAM, COLOMBO) – United People’s Freedom Alliance (UPFA) Parliamentarian Wimal Weerawansa arrested on charges of misusing state funds will be produced before court once again today (24th Tuesday).

The Police Financial Crimes Investigations Division (FCID) arrested Parliamentarian Wimal Weerawansa over discrepancies reported at the State Engineering Corporation during the tenure of the United People’s Freedom Alliance-led government.

MP Weerawansa was previously summoned to record a statement over discrepancies reported at the State Engineering Corporation during his term as Minister of Housing and Common Amenities.

Accordingly, the Colombo Magistrate’s Court issued an order to remand MP Weerawansa till today after he was arrested on the 10th of January.
