Ex-DIG Anura Senanayake & Sumith Perera further remanded

(UDHAYAM, COLOMBO) – Former Senior Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Anura Senanayake and Former Officer-in-Charge of the Crimes Unit of the Narahenpita Police Sumith Perera arrested on charges of concealing evidence in the murder case of National rugby player Wasim Thajudeen have been further remanded till the 2nd of February.

The order was issued by Colombo Additional Magistrate Jerome Trotsky this afternoon.

When the case was taken up for hearing today (19th Thursday), Deputy Solicitor General Dilantha Ratnayake requested the Colombo Additional Magistrate to hand over the CCTV footage obtained in the Narahenpita area on the day of the murder to be handed over to the University of Colombo for inspections.

The Colombo Additional Magistrate Jerome Trotsky declared his consent to the request.

Popular ruggerite Wasim Thajudeen was found dead in the early hours on the 17th of May 2012 in Narahenpita with his death declared a murder by the Criminal Investigations Department last year.
