President to visit Bangladesh in July

(UDHAYAM, COLOMBO) – President Maithripala Sirisena is likely to pay an official visit to Bangladesh on July 13-15 at the invitation of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, The Daily Star reported.

Diplomatic sources said President Sirisena is scheduled to hold meetings with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and meet President Abdul Hamid during the three-day visit.

The upcoming visit will be the first official visit to Bangladesh by Sirisena since he was elected president in 2015.

The two countries are expected to sign several agreements to further promote bilateral ties. To prepare grounds for the visit, Sri Lankan Foreign Secretary Esala Weerakoon will arrive in Dhaka to hold discussion with his Bangladesh counterpart Md Shahidul Haque on Thursday.
