CID questions MR

(UTV | COLOMBO) – Former Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa has been questioned over the unrest and violent incidents that were reported opposite Temple Trees and at Galle Face Green on the 9th of May.

The Criminal Investigation Department has recorded a statement from the former Prime Minister for nearly three hours yesterday.

However, further details have not been released to media thus far.

Meanwhile, yesterday, Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna Parliamentarians Sanath Nishantha and Milan Jayathilake and four others arrested in relation to the violence were further remanded.

The group was remanded till the 1st of June by the Colombo Fort Magistrate Thilina Gamage.

The group was arrested following instructions by the Attorney General to the Inspector General of Police to record statements and arrest 22 individuals, in connection with the attack on protesters on the 9th of May.
