(UTV | COLOMBO) – A Satyagraha organized by the United National Party will take place in Colombo today.
The event is scheduled to be held at Hyde Park from 3pm.
The main objective of the satyagraha is to convince the government to formulate a national policy framework for the next 15 to 20 years.
The UNP has said the satyagraha is an apolitical event and therefore requested all factions to participate and express solidarity towards the need to formulate a national policy framework.
UNP Chairman Vajira Abeywardena also said he is hopeful that a large number of patriotic citizens will take part in today’s non-violent satyagraha, modeled on the great satyagraha movements of yesteryears.
UNP Party Leader Former Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe, Deputy Leader Ruwan Wijewardene, Assistant Leader Akila Viraj Kariyawasam, Chairman Vajira Abeywardena, General Secretary Palitha Range Bandara and other UNP leaders are scheduled to participate in this evening’s satyagraha campaign in Colombo.
